What we email you

Every email ShoutOrbit sends sponsors, creators and followers, when it arrives, and which ones you can turn off.

ShoutOrbit emails you when something happens to your money, your bid or your Orbit, and when a creator you follow opens bidding. Most of these are tied to something you did, like a bid, a charge or an Orbit you opened, so they can't be turned off. Follower emails can, with one click.

Everything comes from noreply@shoutorbit.com, apart from follower emails, which may come from a separate ShoutOrbit address.

If you're a sponsor

When you bid

  • Your bid receipt, the moment your bid is on the Orbit: the sentence you ticked, what you'll be charged if you win, and until when you can cancel. It links to your receipt page, which is where you raise, cancel or see where you stand.
  • A confirmation when you raise or cancel.
  • You've been outbid, while bidding is open, when someone pushes you out of the slots. It says what takes a slot now.
  • A reminder the day before bidding ends, with where you stand.

When bidding ends

  • You're in, if you won: your place, and when your card is charged or your bank payment starts.
  • You're next in line, if you're just below the winners. It says when the line closes, and has a link to step out for free.
  • You moved up, if a winner dropped out and you took their place.
  • Your bid is closed, you weren't charged, once nobody else can move up.

Your money

  • You were charged, or your bank payment went through, with the amount and how it shows on your statement.
  • Your payment didn't go through, with what went wrong and the time you have to fix it. If it isn't fixed in time, a second email says so.
  • Refunded, if the creator never published.

The shout-out

  • The script, if the creator shows the shout-out before publishing, so you can catch a wrong name or link.
  • It's out: were you in it? when the creator pastes the link. It takes you to the moment the shout-out starts where the platform allows it, and asks one question.
  • How was your mention? once the creator has been paid for it.

If you're a creator

  • Bidding ended: check your winners, with the winners, who's next in line, and when anyone you don't answer is charged.
  • Set up payouts to charge your winners, if Stripe can't pay you yet when the check ends.
  • A sponsor's payment didn't go through, and a sponsor moved up or a place is empty, while the line is still open.
  • Your final list: who to mention, and the link to paste once it's published.
  • A sponsor spotted something in your script, if you sent a preview.
  • Paste your link, or your sponsors are refunded: once when your publish date passes without a link, and again shortly before the refunds go out.

Contracts and chats

  • Sponsors hear when their contract is live, when each request arrives, when they pick, and when a contract closes without a pick.
  • Creators hear when they're picked, with their deal Orbit, or when someone else was.
  • Messages: when the other side writes in a bid chat or a deal chat, you get an email saying so, never what it says. A run of messages sends one email, not one each.

Follower emails

If you follow a creator, you get two emails per Orbit they open:

  • Bidding is open, when it opens.
  • Last call, shortly before bidding closes.

Every follower email ends with a link to stop hearing from that creator. It goes to an unsubscribe page that takes you off at once, with no second click. Unsubscribing from one creator doesn't affect the others. You can also unfollow from your Following page.

Why it works this way

Why money emails can't be turned off. They're your record of what you agreed to, what you were charged and why. A sponsor who can't remember a charge weeks later asks their bank instead, and that's slow and costly for everyone. A creator who missed the "paste your link" email could lose an Orbit's money.

Why follower emails come from a separate address. They're the only emails we send that you didn't trigger yourself, so they're the ones that get marked as spam. Keeping them apart protects the address your sign-in codes come from.

Why chat emails don't include the message. The chat is where the conversation, and its record, lives.

What can go wrong

  • Emails go to spam. Add noreply@shoutorbit.com to your contacts. Your receipt page and dashboard show the same information either way.
  • You unsubscribed and still get a receipt. That's expected. Unsubscribing stops follower emails only, never receipts or anything about money you've already committed.
  • An email never arrives. Nothing about your money depends on it. Charges, refunds and payouts happen on their dates whether or not an email reached you.
