Signing in

Sign in with a code we email you or with Google, what to do when the code doesn't arrive, and how your handle works.

ShoutOrbit has no passwords. You sign in with a 6-digit code we email you, or with your Google account. Either way you land on the same account, as long as it's the same email address.

How it works

  1. Go to sign in and enter your email, or press "Continue with Google".
  2. Check your inbox for an email from noreply@shoutorbit.com with the subject "NNNNNN is your ShoutOrbit code".
  3. Type the code in. It works once, for 10 minutes.
  4. The first time, your account is created and given a handle based on your name.

Your handle

Your handle is your public name on ShoutOrbit. It's the name on every bid you place and on every contract you post, and it's in the link to your creator page. Nobody types a name into a bid, so nobody can bid as you.

You can change it in settings, once every 30 days. Links with your old handle stop working when you do. The email you sign in with can't be changed there.

Why it works this way

Why no passwords. A code in your inbox proves the same thing a password does, that you're you, and it expires by itself. There's no password to reuse, forget or leak.

Why the code expires and allows only a few tries. After 3 wrong guesses the code stops working, so nobody can guess their way in.

Why your handle comes from your account. If the name on a bid could be typed freely, anyone could bid as a well-known brand or person. Tying it to your account means the name a creator reads out is a real account.

What can go wrong

  • The code doesn't arrive. Check spam and promotions, and search for noreply@shoutorbit.com. You can ask for a new code after 60 seconds with "Resend code". Or use Google instead.
  • "We couldn't email your code, so don't wait for it." The email didn't go out on our side. Try again in a few minutes, or continue with Google.
  • The code is refused. It may have expired or been used. Ask for a new one, and use the newest email.
  • You typed the wrong email. Press "Use a different email" and start again.
  • Your account is suspended. You can't sign in until the suspension ends. See Suspensions.
