Preview and deliver

Your final list, showing sponsors what you'll say before you publish, and pasting the link that starts your payout.

Once the list stops changing, the rest is the part you were going to do anyway: make the video. ShoutOrbit sends you the final list of who to mention, lets you show those sponsors what you plan to say, and then waits for one thing from you: the link to the published content. That link is what gets you paid.

How it works

  1. The line closes. 74 hours after the deadline nobody can move up any more, and your final list arrives by email: "Mention these 3", each one marked paid or "bank payment clearing", with your publish date. Record after it arrives.
  2. Show your sponsors the script, if you want. From your Orbit's page, write what you'll say about them, add a rough-cut link if you have one, and send it. Everyone in the shout-out gets the same version.
  3. Fix anything they spot. A sponsor can reply with a note, and you can reply back. Send a new version if something needs changing.
  4. Publish by your publish date, on a channel you declared before the Orbit opened.
  5. Paste the link on your Orbit's page, with the time the shout-out starts. Every sponsor in the shout-out is emailed the link and asked whether they were in it.

The preview

The preview exists to catch a misspelled company name or a wrong link while fixing it is still cheap. It is evidence, never a gate:

  • a sponsor who doesn't answer blocks nothing
  • a sponsor who complains holds no money
  • you can always publish, whatever the replies say

A thread on a version takes up to 5 messages a side. If it still isn't right after that, send a new version of the script. All preview threads close when you paste the link.

You can paste the link once the line has closed. Until then the form says "Your list can still change until …". It has to point at the published content on a channel you declared before this Orbit opened. See Declaring your channels.

The start time. Say when the shout-out starts, like 14:32, or 1:02:03 past the first hour. For a YouTube video or a Twitch past broadcast it's required, because it's the link your sponsors click to jump straight to their moment. For a Short, a TikTok or a post it's optional.

Check both before you press "Add link". A link is recorded once, and it can't be edited afterwards.

Reminders, and the refund

If your publish date passes with no link, we email you. We email you again 2 days before the refunds go out. If there's still no link by your publish date plus 7 days, every sponsor who was charged is refunded in full, and you're paid nothing for that Orbit. The refunds go out on time whether or not you've read the emails.

Why it works this way

Why the link waits for the line to close. Until then a winner can still be removed and someone else move up. The delivery email tells each sponsor, as a fact, that they were in your content, so it can only go to a list that has stopped changing.

Why the link has to be on a channel you declared first. It's what makes the link mean something to a sponsor. A channel added after the Orbit opened could be anything.

Why we ask for the start time. Nobody wants to watch a 25-minute video to find a 30-second mention. The time lets each sponsor see theirs in one click, which is also the quickest way for them to be satisfied.

Why the preview is never a gate. If a sponsor's silence or complaint could hold your money, one difficult sponsor could hold your whole Orbit hostage. You stay in charge of what you publish.

Why there's a refund deadline. A sponsor who pays and gets nothing never bids again. The deadline is what lets sponsors trust you with their money before the video exists.

What can go wrong

  • "Link to the published content on a channel you had declared before this Orbit opened." The link is on a platform you hadn't declared yet. Use the channel you declared.
  • "Add when the shout-out starts, like 14:32." A YouTube or Twitch link needs the time.
  • A bank payment is still clearing. You can still paste the link, and that sponsor is on your list. You're paid for them once their payment lands, and not at all if it fails.
  • "The deadline for this link has passed, so your sponsors are being refunded." The publish date plus 7 days has gone by. The link can't go in any more.
  • A sponsor says they weren't in it. Your payout on that Orbit waits until a person has watched the content. See Getting paid.
